The White Truffle Fair

Starting at the end of October and proceeding well into November Acqualagna,  Italy, in the Province of Pesaro e Urbino in the Marche region,  becomes the site of the annual White Truffle Fair. Tourists and businessmen who come en masse for the fair make the event an important one for the region’s economy.

Acqualagna is surrounded by marvelous mountains, forests and wild nature. It is regarded as the truffle capital by right, with white and black truffles abounding in the local forests. The inhabitants of the blessed area, even if they are not well-off, can afford treating themselves to these very expensive delicacies.

Truffles are characterized by a taste and smell that charm by their sheer exquisiteness. But fresh truffles don’t keep for long – only one week. And if this wonderful mushroom cut, it must immediately use all whole, otherwise it will deteriorate very quickly.

Truffles are generally eaten raw, cut finely and placed on different foods – pasta, omelet, risotto. Of them also preparing creams, pastes, pour the olive oil. Truffles are added, even in ice cream to give it a mysterious flavor.
