Real Italian Pizza in the Pompey Oven

Pizza Margherita

This pizza was first prepared in this variant (with Mozzarella) for Italian queen Margherita at the close of the 19th century. Just an amazing flavor is brought about by basil and oregano, Mozzarella gives a fantastically delicate taste.

Ingredients for the Dough for Pizza Margherita

  • 300 g. Flour
  • 20 g. Yeast
  • Salt to taste

Ingredients for the Filling for Pizza Margherita

  • 250 g. Tomatoes
  • 250 g. Mozzarella (made out of buffalo milk is tastier)
  • Olive oil to taste
  • 10 leaves of basil
  • Salt to taste
  • Oregano

Cooking Instructions

  1. Dissolve yeast in warm water, add flour and salt. Knead dough till it becomes elastic and stops adhering to hands.
  2. Leave the dough for one hour. Knead the dough again, add some flour, if it still adheres to hands. The more you knead the dough, the more elastic it becomes.
  3. Sheet the dough thin and bake in the oven for 2 minutes at 220 C Degree.
  4. Take it out of the oven and lay the filling on the dough, then bake it in the oven for 5-8 more minutes.
  5. The filling consists of tomatoes cut into small pieces, Mozzarella and basil. Lay Mozzarella on tomatoes. Then pour with olive oil. When Mozzarella melts, the pizza is ready.
  6. Pizza Margherita should be eaten warm. The taste is indeed good.
