Eat Cheese and Butter and Stay Healthy
During the last 25 years the intake of medium-fat and high-fat dairy products has decreased. That was caused by people’s anxiety over their influence on health and fear of bad cholesterol. Nevertheless dairy products are part and parcel of a healthy way of eating and their intake should be encouraged – that is the opinion of British doctors.
The Epidemiology for Public Health magazine published the results of a study and surveys that had been conducted for 20 years and involved 2,375 people. The study deals with the link between dairy foods intake and the risk of developing heart diseases and diabetes.
That long-term research revealed that individuals who ate very little of dairy products had nearly twice the risk of developing ischemic heart disease, arterial occlusion, and four times the risk of developing diabetes. Besides, they had an almost 50%-increased chances of an untimely death.
Scientists concluded that a reasonable intake of milk fats influences metabolism positively and should not be feared.
