Cherry Festival in Italy

The heat of the cherry season is marked in the Italian city of Vignola with an annual festival dedicated to this berry.

Local farmers pay homage to cherry whose wonderful taste they have good reasons to be proud of. It is in this region that the largest and the sweetest cherry is grown. The most famous brand – dark red cherries “Duroni di Vignola”

The “Italian Cherry” contest will be held where an expert committee will assess cherry samples brought over from different corners of the country.

The many events include a costume parade with platforms decorated with fruits. Every visitor gets a piece of a huge 20-meter pie with cherry jam filling. Of course, you can treat yourself to fresh cherry, baked foods, cherry bread and even meat with cherry sauce.

Further, you can try your powers at spitting cherry stones as far as you can, trying to break the 20-meter record set by the local citizen Mauro Chiavarino.
