The Mimosa Salad Recipe
This salad competes in popularity with what is known as Russian salad and Dressed herring. It is so tender and delicious that its popularity is well deserved – especially if you make it with homemade mayonnaise and not one bought at the store. There are no strictly set proportions for Mimosa, every woman is welcome to make alterations according to her taste. The main ingredients are fish, eggs, onion, cheese and mayonnaise. Some cooks add grated cold butter, and those who want to have less fat and calories, but enhanced wholesomeness use potato and carrot.
Ingredients for Mimosa Salad
- 1 can of mackerel
- 4 eggs
- 2 carrots
- 2-3 potatoes
- 1 onion
- 0.4 lb grated cheese
- 0.8 lb olive mayonnaise
Recipe for Mimosa Salad
- Mash the fish with a fork. Boil eggs, potatoes and carrots and let them cool down. Separate the yolks from the whites. Grate all the products into different plates.
- Take a deep salad bowl and put everything in in layers, putting mayonnaise over each layer. The layers can come in any order you like best. When you have done it put the salad into the refrigerator for 2 hours.
- It’s customary to arrange the salad to resemble a mimosa flower, so before you serve it put a flat platter on the bowl and turn the bowl over.
- Cover with grated yolks, cheese and greens. Serve the salad cutting it up with a wide turner like you cut a cake.
