Black Rice Is an Excellent Source of Antioxidants
Black rice is now regarded as an antioxidant leader, as has been reported at the National Meeting of the American Chemical Society. It’s not that blueberry and blackberry are losing to it, yet black rice has some advantages: it is cheaper and it contains very little sugar. This sort of rice was called Forbidden Rice in ancient China because the nobility used to lay their hands on that sort of rice and common people were forbidden to eat it.
Many people know that brown rice is more nutritious than white. But research showed that black rice is even better. It broke all the records as to the antioxidant content. Black rice is more efficacious in helping to bring down cancer and heart diseases by reducing the level of the low-density lipoprotein, or bad cholesterol.
A spoonful of black rice contains more anthocyanin, fiber and Vitamin E than a spoonful of blueberry. Scientists urge food manufacturers to add black rice bran to dry breakfasts, beverages and cookies to enhance their wholesomeness.
