A Tomato Festival in Spain

A Tomato Festival in Spain

A town Bunol in Spain has been a home for the “La Tomatina” festival for the last 50 years. At the end of August those who are fond of tomato partying gather there to fight – by throwing rotten tomatoes at one another! If you can’t dodge quickly, you will be able to treat yourself to some ketchup straight from your face. There is one hour during which 150,000 overripe tomatoes become missiles. Afterwards all the participants go to a nearby river to wash.

It’s traditional for men to tomato-fight with their chests bare and for men to wear white blouses that lose their color in no time. About 40,000 tourists come to attend the festival to the town which has only 9,000 inhabitants.
