Do you know how to ease sore muscles after hard workouts? Turns out cherry juice can be very effective. So says the report of Israeli scientists who conducted a series of experiments involving two groups of professional athletes. One group drank apple juice and the other group was given cherry juice after workouts.

Although athletes in the second group still felt some discomfort in muscles, they didn’t have any sharp pains. And those who drank apple juice complained about drawing pain in muscles.

Scientists say it is cherry and cherry juice which provide a strong anti-inflammatory effect and positively affect nerve endings. It is explained by the cherry’s exclusive mix of antioxidants, phytoncides, pectin, vitamins, copper and other elements which the other fruits either don’t contain at all or are very low in. It was also noticed that the effect of cherry juice grew stronger with darker cherries. Health experts advise that athletes and all people with active lifestyle drink cherry juice and eat a handful of cherries after workouts to maintain health and muscle tone.
