Teflon Cookware Is Dangerous for Health
A recent article published in the Archives of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine reveals that cookware with a non-stick surface has an adverse effect upon health. Teflon’s harmful influence is put down to the use of dangerous perfluoroalkyl acids in its production.
A team of researchers at the West Virginia University School of Medicine, Morgantown, studied blood serum in 12,476 pre-teen and teenage children. They discovered the level of fluorine-containing acids to be significantly higher – which impairs liver functions and brings about increase of bad cholesterol’s LDL.
The manufacturers asserted that those acids are used only during the manufacturing process after which they are removed completely. But it appears that it’s not quite true. And the more you heat the ware, the more poisonous substances it exudes.
