Turmeric Is Effective against Parkinson’s Disease
A research team headed by Basir Ahmad from Michigan State University has carried out a series of experiments showing that curcumin – found in turmeric – proves to be very effective in preventing Parkinson’s disease.
The first stage of this wearing disease is coalescing of alpha-synuclein protein, and curcumin can prevent that. It binds with alpha-synuclein and inhibits its coalescence by making it move faster.
This research can form the basis of a new medication treatment of the grave disease.
The results of new research can be found in the current issue of Biological Chemistry.
